Should I sell on Etsy? Please comment

So I've been thinking, is it really worth it to start selling on etsy? I've been reading up on the policies they have on fees and such and trying to acquaint myself with their categories and looking at other people's handmade items. I guess I wouldn't be so hesitant if it weren't for those fees, but they aren't so bad. I'm just wondering though how often people really do buy stuff on etsy...

i was thinking of posting up a few things up onto esty to see how they would sell, but i just don't know if it's worth it since my livejournal serves the same purpose. hmmm...

comments would be much appreciated.

You are awesome! You have inspired me, I am going to make my self a charm. Any pointers?
:iconkneazlegurl125:
just go and start making it. i just picked up some randon sculpey and some acrylic paint and started practicing. you'll find out the setbacks along the way, but it'll make you the better charm maker once you get figure the problem out.

one pointer, use delta red acrylic paint. the cheap stuff is horrible.

Hi! I'm in love with your work! So much in fact, that you inspired me to try my hand at making some charms. But I don't really know anything. ^-^" What brand of polymer clay would you suggest to a beginner? I heard that Sculpey is a popular choice but that it's also brittle after baking.

well, the first brand of clay i've used and have used ever since is ultralight sculpey clay, which is different from regular sculpey in that it's more foam-like rather than clay. it bakes hard and still keeps its light weight.

sculpey clay could be brittle after baking, but that's if you bake for too long and dry out the clay, or if the clay was dry to begin with and you baked it. with regular sculpey clay it's important that at all cost to keep it in an air tight container or bag after using it so that it keeps it's moisture. ultralight sculpey can be left out for weeks without ever drying out, another reason why i like ultralight sculpey the best.

however whatever you choose, just go ahead and buy whatever you find and experiment with it. once you start experimenting with it yourself, you'll find out the consistency of the clay as well as the errors that come with charm making it and will naturally fix them and get better.

thank you so much for the information! :D i think i'll start with sculpey III since that's usually what i see at the arts and crafts store.
